It's crazy how often the pushers are replaced on these spillman cases. I wonder if it was a bad design or something?

Perhaps these watches actually were used for tough duty.

Posted before but this one is also 142: https://www.shellman-online.jp/view/item/000000000295
Movement serial 170.320. The ebay one is 170.505. One may assume that that indicates something but I have a record for 170.423 which was a 146 ;-)
Nothing else to found on the interwebs at first glance. Rossler does not mention cal. 142 (as far as I could see)...

I don't read Arabic but OCR suggests this has the name of a Saudi king on the dial - Khalid bin Abdul Aziz.

Do we think this might have been a personal watch or a presentation piece? The date links it to when he was Crown Prince and from what I can deduce the script just has his name without any royal title

Amazing how little the original 385 caliber evolved to become to become the 283, 285, 287, 481 and 281 over four decades and how its backbone is so similar it is to all of the other chrono and moonphase calibers. It is so robust that took it the extra load required to run a three register chrono and calendar !
