Thanks, to recap: blue scale and open 6 in the 60 seconds track is ok for early 40's, while closed 6 in the 60 seconds is more likely after 1945?

I'm not aware of this, but perhaps others have done this kind of research and can share. As I said, several examples in Sala with closed 60s seconds and early 40s. If I can find multiple examples in just a few minutes..........to me that's an open question that requires more study.

The nice thing about the forum is that each of us have done deep dives on some of these issues and can pool that knowledge. I haven't done it on this particular topic, which is why I'm not making absolute statements, which I would almost never do with UG anyways.

Been collecting UG since 2015. This Open 6 to Closed 6 observation is salted throughout many discussion threads here. I will also say that the Uni-Compax section in Sala has always struck me as thin.

Hey Larry can you expand on this a bit, what is your understanding of the situation? Are there specific years or transition points, etc? I remember the discussion around 6's and 9's on Tri Compax, but I don't really remember with Uni Compax.

Looks like you have a point Ben. One can really only look at color plates since they are dated (we know they are not always 100% accurate). From my survey and my own collection there does not seem to be the same pattern we see in Tri-Compax. UG strikes again! Even the transition to shorter telephony marks does not apply. Bottom line is that the OP watch is fine regardless of our perseverating. We have not had a lot of UNI dial debates...With Tri Compax the Open 6 and Long Telephony Marks give way to closed 6 and shorter marks late 40’s/early 550’s as I recall.

Here are my early - mid 50’s watches all open 6.

Then there is my Compur...(Closed 6) .. Survey of Compur plates shows closed 6’s.

Thanks and congrats on your collection: I find number three in particular truly amazing.

Quick question, a dial like the @rolokr one (open 6 and blue scale) is then correct for a 8** serial?

I am asking this because I was just offered another Uni-compax (in this case 37mm) with and identical dial and a similar serial by a forum member (I don't know if I am authorized to post pictures publicly) and I am trying to figure this out.

@Chris75 ..Without seeing the watch .. really can’t comment. Generally we don’t review watches in their FS posts. It is perfectly acceptable however to show us what you are considering in a thread like this or a new thread. Odds are that if a member in good standing, it’s fine. Ps. Thanks. The third is from 1956 and it is very very clean and sharp.

Thanks, I have asked him and waiting for a reply.

Theoretically a dial identical to the @rolokr one (open 6 and blue scale) is correct for an early 40's serial?

I am going just with one pictures, trying to be as discreet as possible.

Seller is reputable member and, since I am not still sure if I am buying it because negotiating a trade, I was asked to send more pictures only via private message, as the watch may be listed on OF in the future.

This looks like a different case reference, not a 224100 ??

I have yet to see any examples posted in this thread that concern me.

I, for one, hope this watch is listed on OF in the future 😉
