Up for sale is an uncommon "big crown" Universal Geneve Polerouter Sub. This example comes out of Mexico City and was owned by the same owner until sold to a jeweler earlier this year. It is preserved in excellent overall condition, and at 37mm (compared to 39mm for the asymmetrical-cased Polerouter Subs), it wears extremely well on the wrist. I think these boast some of the best bang for the buck, especially when you pop the caseback and look at the Microtor movement! See below for more:

Dial: My favorite of the Polerouter Sub dials, this "art deco" dial is in excellent condition. All lume plots are intact and have aged to a creamy hue and there are no marks or blemishes (there are a few pieces of fuzz that are on the inside of the crystal and can be quickly removed by a watchmaker if so desired). Overall, a very well preserved example of a rare dial. I also love the "open 6" and "open 9" on the date wheel, which matches the aesthetic of the numerals on the dial.

Hands: Hands are correct and original to the watch. The hands have aged to a slightly lighter shade than the dial. I have seen other examples with similar aging and believe the lume to be original - under UV, the hands and dial fade out at slightly different rates, but there is not a significant deviation that would indicate a later re-lume.

Case: The 37mm symmetrical case exhibits sharp lines, with no rounded polishing and only minor surface swirls present. Caseback, bezel, and crown are correct and original. Crystal is a replacement. The bezel is missing the lume pip at 12 o'clock but is in otherwise excellent condition and rotates freely.

Movement / Functionality: The watch is powered by Universal Geneve's in-house "Microtor" automatic movement, which was the first micro rotor movement and displays nice finishing. This example's movement is very clean and in excellent condition. I do not formally time my watches, but over two days of wear, it has kept correct time and remained running. Winding, as I've had with a prior Polerouter Sub, is interesting, as the crown screws / unscrews and winds the movement while doing so, but will not freely wind (i.e. you cannot continuously wind it forwards without it screwing back in). I've owned two prior Polerouter Subs and one did this, while the other did not. At a minimum, it does not impact timekeeping or power reserve, it just takes a little see-saw action to get it fully wound! As always, the watch is sold as-is.

Accessories: The watch is being sold head only with no accessories

My asking price is $4,500, which includes fully insured Fedex Priority shipping. Payment via PayPal (F&F or add 3% if using PP) or direct bank wire. US sale strongly preferred. Finally, I have many references available as a buyer and seller that I can provide if necessary. Thanks for looking and thanks to OF for the space.

I am actually surprised it’s still here- there has been some buzz about this in the backround- not one we see often…if ever.
