Scarecrow Boat
··Burt Macklin, FBIHi OF,
I have transitioned my collection focus to be vintage diver oriented and have decided to sell a few pieces to help fund this. For sale is my UG FS Mk1 from the early/mid 60's.
For those unfamiliar with this series from UG, here is a wonderful thread detailing them

This is a very clean example with a beautiful and intact enamel dial. While the case does show wear commensurate with age, I believe it to be unpolished as it retains its sharp edges and faceted lugs unique only to the Mk1. The case measures 34mm not including the crown and wears wonderfully on my 7" wrist. The crystal is clear and intact. The crown is the original signed crown. The caseback is in good condition with the serial number and FS well preserved. The cseback also has the original tension ring, which you can see in one image. The enamel dial is beautiful and completely intact. It has gone the slightest shade of tan but I will not dare say this is tropical- just stating a fact it is not stark white. However, I do think it is a fun patina that lends this watch to look fabulous on a brown strap. For a quick example, here is the Mk1 next to a Mk2 with a pristine white dial- there is a very subtle difference where the Mk1 dial is slightly warmer in tone. The tone is even and uniform across the entire dial.
Another element unique to only the MK1 is the slightly larger and radially printed sub dial, which you can also see in the example above. And if I might suggest, this watch made for the Italian railways looks fabulous on an Italian leather strap from Torres 👍. The lug width is 18mm. The movement was serviced this year but I cannot provide proof of that, my apologies. The movement winds smoothly and runs well.
The watch and I are located in Northern California and it is being sold as head only. Shipping within CONUS is free while it is an additional charge for international. I am asking $750obo via PP F&F, Zelle, or Wise. No returns unless grossly misrepresented.
Here is my seller feedback from the last year

And also for reference, the MK1 next to a MK2, which is obviously not included in the sale
Thank you for looking and making it this far. I hope you have a wonderful day or night, wherever you may be.
