·Hi OF'ers,
For sale today is this Universal Geneve Chronometre 28 watch. I believe this to be quite a rare watch with only a few examples that can be found online. The watch is made of steel with an interesting ''coin edge'' (i'm not sure if this is the correct term) bezel. I believe the watch to be fully original, except for the crown which is a replacement. This UG measures 34mm excluding crown though it wears larger due to the watch being very thin (especially for an automatic watch!), the lugs are also quite long. In my opinion this wears like a 35-36mm watch.
The watch is in excellent condition with the dial barely showing patina. The minute markers between 10 and 11 have faded somewhat though. Also, there is some damage to the case near the crown. Otherwise the watch is in great condition and it seems unpolished as the lugs are still very sharp and defined. The scratch near the logo is on the crystal, not on the dial
The watch features a microrotor movement and runs well. I have been informed the watch was serviced in 2021 however I have no service records to prove this.
Since this is a rare watch, the price is difficult to set. I will price it significantly below other examples that have been on the market due to the replaced crown. There is one listed on chrono24 for €2299, which is the only comparable piece I have been able to find.
I am asking €999,- (down from €1399,-) shipped within the EU, international shipping is also possible, price to be determined on request.
Let me know if you have any questions.
