Sorry, not an Omega but a really unique dial, you'll never see another I bet, hence the reason I had to have it.

This exists in ridiculously small numbers and has an even more ridiculous price tag, so it probably qualifies as unique.

It's not part of my collection, although that is my wrist.

The one on the right,, on the other hand, is in my collection. According to STS it's an unusual dial for this model, although I haven't come across them in sufficient numbers to verify that for myself.

It's a c1935 Omega Marine, the first commercially produced waterproof diver's watch.

OK I will play, this really is unique, I have a fair few prototypes tucked away, some with one off dials but not even the museum have one of these they can show off!

It is a cal 28.9 under wrist prototype, the dial was originally intended for a small pocket chronograph, which never went in to production and was most likely ordered as a special order out of the factory. I have check the authenticity of the dial with the factory and it is completely legit, although they only have sketches/ images

OK! OK! You win!
Un....ingbelievable.

Tom, please help me with the registers, especially the green center one.

I don't want dibs, I'm not smart enough to wear this.

Ha ha, I best not wear it either and it makes no sense to me!

Although I will admit I do wear it quite a lot, it's a lovely little thing! I wore it to a wedding in Spain last week, all our friends are used to seeing me in a a ploprof or something else suitably understated so they where somewhat surprised to see me rock up with this

Boom, might have known you'd be saving something for this thread Tom!

Actually when you think about it, every MQ stardust dial is also unique.

Dear UncleBuck, I don’t want to tread on Tom’s toes – or steal his thunder – but I think I can answer your query. As I’m sure you know, the scales that appear on chronographs (even since the early days of Omega and still going with many watches) are Telemeter/Tachymeter/Pulsometer. I think this is a Tachymeter (which gives your speed against a measured distance).

The outer scale (blue) goes down to 60. Readings would then continue on the red scale – down to 30. And then it continues on that green inner-most scale – down to 20, and that’s your lot.

I guess the word ‘Tachymeter’ (or even Tachymètre!) appears at 12 o’clock under the reflection.

Here’s a dial that shows all three of the scales. In this case the Tachymeter continues as blue all the way.

Over to you Tom.

And immediately further to my last, cristos71’s post right at the beginning shows tachy and tele on his 27 C12.

As I’m sure you know
Never underestimate the extent of my lack of knowledge!

Actually, I confess that the inner green register was the first non-concentric or spiral shaped that I have seen!

Jolly good show, exactly why I love the forum!

There is a standard case sharp T1 in John Goldbergs book Omega Watches with an identical dial to mine, will get a pic when the light is better in the morning

sm-rib-full_zpsuikhcugi.jpg Hi there,

While by no means being unique, I guess you dont see a Seamaster with this dial too often out in the wild ;-)

I think this is the image you’re referring to Tom. In fact it’s a 28.9 but same family, same dial. Aren’t they lovely?

That's the one

I do love the 28.9's, there were a lot more variants than people realise, primarily because they weren't far off completely hand made watches

I've seen a solid 18k T1 which was in a 39mm case, it looked amazing! I will dig out a few examples of some of the interesting ones!
