Some of my favorite people in this industry are the independents. Among the top are the boys (and girl) from Urwerk. Not only are their watches stunning, revolutionary and endlessly cool, the people are top notch. I recently had the pleasure of spending some time with the Zeit Device, and thought I'd share some pics. You can read about its complications here. A sample being a 1000 year indicator. I can't share all of them, but enjoy these...
Go the link in the OP to learn more about it. No one should have to suffer aBtR. Yes it is a "pocket watch" and even comes with a chain.
I suppose I feel that that is inherently obvious by looking at the site and reading the site. The issues only compound when you factor in the person behind the site. It's a great site to introduce new faces to the hobby, but we should all be holding ourselves to a higher standard when it comes to quality. To each their own however, apologies for ruffling any feathers.
The thing that tends to stand out on ablogtoread is the fact that every last inch of space on the site has been rented out to mostly second tier to bottom rung watch company advertisements. I'm sure Ariel gets some decent revenue, but it has always raised the question for me of how impartial you can be if you're taking their money. Sort of makes me wonder about this place, the only company I think we'd ever entertain any sort of sponsorship from would be Omega for obvious reasons but I highly doubt they'd do so knowing that me, Trev and the other staff will still bag any watch that looks crap irrespective of where it comes from and wouldn't accept corporate gagging.
Reading and leaning more about the Zeit Device Über Complication, You really have to applaud these watchmakers. Fantastic piece of kit. Any idea of the price ?
