Congratulations on a very nice piece and thank you for sharing the step-by-step clean up.

Can I ask, I've only ever used polywatch on my crystals. Does the progressively finer grit sanding process leave any micro-swirls on the crystal once complete? I find my crystals always seems to have some very fine micro-scratches that no amount of poly watch can get rid of.

Thank you very much sir, and very good question.. since I'm full time knifemaker I often polish stuff to mirror level 😄 and I find one thing very important.. when you go up with the grit, always change polishing direction.. and on watches I do rotation moves on the end of every grit..
That's it..

This brings back memories. At the start of my vintage omega journey in 2007-early 2008 or so there was a seller in TZ who had two of these watches - one with english and one with german language wheels. Both in excellent condition. He would only sell them as a pair and I believe the asking price was about $10k USD. I knew they were a good buy and Chuck Maddox at time told me to go for it. I had the money but it was a heavy lift for me then so I passed. I have similar stories about other missed opportunities as well but this stands out.

Would be great to have time machine. 😁

But no worry, I have many similar stories..
One of them is selling Rolex Explorer Freccione at about 2500 DM . Was 1994 or 1993.. today the same one cost about 17-30k depending details..

And if we talk about Omega, my biggest fail was selling white German 1985 Two Tone Speedmaster .. I traded that beauty to one guy here in my Country and he gave me very nice Joop horse fur coat 🤣🤣
The trade value was 1200€ in today's money.
Crazy.

I will never forget that mistake

The same like this one
