Uncle Seiko - Uncle Frank N. Seiko

Dear members, a few days ago a new member was asking about the legitimacy (I spelled this right the first time) of a Rolex sold on the Watches to Buy website.

I had never bought from this site but started to look at the selection and found that he has several Omega fold overs (clasps?) for sale.

I have the FOIS and started with a Forstner flat link. It is beautiful but I wear the watch a lot and the spring(s) broke within a few months. In fairness to the company, I was offered a replacement without questions (on this Forum).

I instead opted for the Uncle Seiko (I think it’s called President, see photos). Now that bracelet, although not as pretty as the flat link, feels super solid. I love it.

I bought one of the clasps from the Watchestobuy website. It fits perfectly on my Uncle Seiko. Do I call it a Franken bracelet now?

PS: I am certain that other members have added an Omega clasp to their modern bracelet… but if you are currently looking for one, Derek at Watchestobuy has 8 left.

I am not affiliated to him in any way.

I have a couple of the ones that were available on eBay a few years back- some said they were legit- I really don’t care- they complete the look/feel for me like putting an Omega buckle on an aftermarket strap. I don’t think anyone could say anyone was trying to deceive as it’s just the cover and not the whole clasp.

I bought a clasp last year on the bay (for my US1035) which was shipped from Canada, could it be the same person? I read a discussion on OF questioning whether the eBay offered clasps where actually genuine;

https://www.ebay.nl/itm/314038746619?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=1346-175129-2357-0&ssspo=z-1m_ucdqww&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=XmUU4jPAQhq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=

Current price is quite high though compared to what I paid.
I don’t personally know Derek Dier, although I have met him a few times. He may have an E Bay account. He told me that he has had these clasps for over 20 years. Given his reputation (he is well known for supplying watches as movie / TV props) I doubt that they are fake. (Nothing is fake in movies!)

Yep, he’s well known for supplying a redialled Omega for the Mad Men show...

I took your advice and ordered one. I'll have to pick up a bracelet next...

FWIW, Derek advertises on his site, less expensive shipping is available for the branded clasp cover. You have to email him. I did so and we got things settled within an hour or two. I call that pretty responsive. The cost went from $75 to $15. Well worth getting a hold of him if you decide you need one of his clasp covers.
