Follow up question. I purchased this watch from a seller who is in another country. He offered to take the watch back and repair it. From what I gather its not an easy repair. My dilemma now is should I trust him with the repair ( I dont know how good his watchmaker is), or bite the bullet and pay for it to repair it locally with the watchmaker I trust, or is it necessary to repair at all, since the watch functions well ( other than the hand winding )

You bought a watch from a seller who sold it knowing it didn’t wind properly and now wants you to send it who knows where and be fixed by who knows who?

As I see it, you have two options here:

1. Tell the seller you will have your trusted watchmaker look at it and give you an estimate for just the manual winding repair. Have the seller refund you that amount and any other service work you want to do on the watch is on you...or,

2. Cancel the entire transaction and have them refund you the purchase price with return shipping. Hopefully, you paid with PayPal funded by a credit card, so you can get the credit card people involved if necessary.

This is a textbook case of buying the seller, and in this instance, the seller has not acquitted themselves well.

Appreciate the response. To give the seller the benefit of the doubt, he thought that the watch did not have the manual winding option, but your point is well taken.
