    Dear Mr @ulackfocus

I have $9000 to spend, assuming I need to worry about a zombie attack tomorrow, before tea, what would be the best Submariner to buy to go with my Jaguar D type?, as this car has no top, will it be okay to wear the watch if it rains as there is quite a bit of heat off the engine which seeps back into the cockpit area so its really quite warm and I'm worried about the seals if they get warm water on them, I only want to purchase one watch because I'm travelling light to outrun said zombies in a convertible in the rain... my uncle, the one who sold me the Jaguar (its a V8 prototype D type with an automatic transmission, which I'm assured is very rare!), can get me just about any Rolex product very cheaply, so divide any catalog prices by two when considering a watch.

    Thank you,
    Prince Ivan Gregorvich of Nigeria.

All things considered, you need a watch that's battery powered.

I always thought the name "Fritz" was suspicious. What German in his right mind would want to hang out with a bunch of Swiss Watch wearers. (and no the occasional Sinn, Glashutte or Lange wearer is not enough sway them.

...I needed to visualize the situation...G-Shock in chrome, easy to wipe zomb blood off & seals are afraid of shiny things, also matches the cars chrome. I will except the excess funds as payment.

    Best,

Gad! that is bloody hideous! Just the thing for a V8 D type with an automatic.....

I really am surprised I haven't been taken to task for suggesting there was ever a V8 D..... a terrible thought really.
Shoulda stuck this image in the Automotive Porn thread rally....

You know even though I'm a long time BMW owner since my first car, whenever I hear a specific model the first thing that pops into my mind is all of the things that will inevitably break on it, like the 5th gear shift pin, power window regulators and VANOS on the E36 M. No joke, every model I love my first thought it always the butcher's bill, then how much I'd be willing to pay for the repairs regardless.

I've owned a lot of e36's... those damned window regulators... and the seat bases... the m3 I looked after for a little while had been treated to a banks rebuild before I bought it.

The S8 was much more painful... you can buy one for £2k... just expect to spend £8k a year running it...

Man painful is doing the E36 window regulator yourself and totally shredding your hands on the sharp exposed bits of metal and screws inside the door for 3 hours getting the old one out and the new one in. E46 is no better, paid for 3 regulators on those so far and still can't understand how BMW can get over 100hp/litre but fail to master the mysteries of electric windows, especially when the E34 windows are bombproof, you could amputate a limb with those things.

BTW they also didn't fix it on the E90, even 20 years later their power window regulators still fail all the time.
