Looks like big changes ahead for Boris Johnson and UK politics. Depending on what your politics are it is either a very good thing or a disaster. The times they are a changing ( can only be for the better ).

If you keep breaking the rules you will eventually get pinched …
"Pincher by name Pincher by nature".……..

I don’t see any better outcomes being likely overall - based on the current crop of politicians from all sides…..

In case anybody was wondering, after giving it some consideration I have decided not to join the Government. Mr Johnson is now asking my next door neighbour. I expect he'll get the same response there.

Commencing countdown for thread deletion …

I think there has to be controversy or members being aggressively opposed to each others arguments... I don't think anyone disagrees about Boris Johnson being a catastrophe 😁

The no politics thing is mainly US politics, UK threads don’t tend to get that heated as the British don’t tend to take any of it that personally or get emotional about it.

The woman in the picture is not a young Ghislaine M: I think it is (a sadly deluded) Allegra Mostyn-Owen. We do however have the eye-witness account of Johnson's sister (gee thanks, sis...) Rachel that she saw GM with Boris, behaving (in her opinion) flirtatiously, one breakfast time when they were all at Oxford.
Of course the crimes and various unpleasantnesses of the late Robert Maxwell could (and do) fill library shelves.
[Ugh - I can't believe I've just been lending valuable head-space to three such loathsome individuals, out of pure pedantry. Totally my own fault, and lack of self-restraint. Feel like a shower now.]

It’d be the same with Australian politics, like if someone said “that Australian Prime Minister is a complete knob…” the rest of Australians including those that voted for him are like “yea that’s fair”. There’s just not a queue of guys that are going to sit there and defend the honor of their dear leader.

If a major sporting hero were attacked that could get an emotional response but that’s a different situation.

Well you would think it would be a good thing, but people keep voting for the same thing.

Socrates said something along the lines of evil happens because good men do nothing. What he meant by this, is that 'a good man', someone who was moral and wanted to serve the people could not actually rule because in order to get things done you have to be ruthless and selfish.

This has been borne out by the generations of leaders who serve themselves and the small ruling elite. The majority of people seem to go along with this. If we didn't, inequality would not be as great as it is in the majority of countries in the world.

The billionaire former banker turned chancellor of the UK, cut tax on Bank profits by 5% causing a fall of just over 7 billion pounds in lost revenue. Then he puts up national insurance, saying everyone needs to share the bill. Really? Obviously not the banks.( Or oil companies or electricity companies etc etc) Your average working man seems to be paying for steak and champagne while only eating chips.

I suppose ordinary working people are too concerned about how they will pay the bills to worry about which filthy politician is robbing them blind.

Congrats on BF's resignation.

On the other side of the pond we can't even get our previous guy to resign...

The last I heard, Boris's "resignation" came with fine print. He's resigning as party leader, but wants to stay on for several more months as PM. A non-resignation resignation.
