The 22705-1 have a valjoux 72, different dial and chrono hand
This one is the earlier version with cal 281 ref 222101

222101
Cal 281
Brushed dial
Usual chrono hand

22705-1
Cal 130 (Val 72)
Different dial
Later chrono hand

The later one is rarer and more desirable to my eyes 😉

Great.

Thanks for the information.

I agree with @Florent about the later being more desirable for some members, but I prefer UG with Martel movements.

Do you know if in ref 222101 the crown or the crystal were signed?

Thanks

chrono sweep seems short in first two pics? Most examples seem to extend into the tachy scale? Not to get side tracked but this is perhaps one of the potential models that is correct for the chrono sweep I am trying to identify. Flat, long, no date complication with cal 281.

One of my favorite references both the 222101-1 and the 22705-1 ... I shall be picking one up in Milan later this month and agree, the V72 powered is a little more desirable (only a little though). I have a beautiful NOS dial waiting to finish it off ...

In both references are the ref and serial engraved in the case back?

Aren't these models prone to vanish those marks, as the engraving is very lightly done?

Honestly beside the chrono hand I could not see big differences in both dials,

Can you please give me some lights here, and also what details to look when trying to source one? Beside polishing and dial condition?

Thanks

I couldn't see the difference in the dials initially either but I think I am right in saying that it is the dial surface that it is different. The 222101-1 has a brushed finish (with brushing from top to bottom) whereas the 22705-1 has a silver sunburst finish radiating from the centre and with much less texture to the dial surface.

I attach two pictures borrowed from the internet that illustrate this difference.

The V72's or caliber 130 is found in all late 50s early 60s UGs compax's. Later V72 powered UGs share a Caliber 85. The original 22706 evil nina is a grail in my eyes. Nothing better than a nina with a caliber 130.

222101
Cal 281
Brushed dial
Usual chrono hand

22705-1
Cal 130 (Val 72)
Different dial
Later chrono hand

Is this confirmed, that the latter, Val 72 example only / always comes with the non-tear drop chrono sweep?
