    Because I’m still new to this watch hobby, let me ask the stupid question; shouldn’t there be 8 ticks every second?

    It should if the frequency is 28800 BPM, however I think it may be a caliber 8400 so the beat rate is 25200 (3600 seconds x 7 beats per second).

    Thank you. It's a Calibre 8800 but JimInOz has the right answer regarding number of beats.

    I took the photo after I put the watch on a timer and the reported beat rate was 25,200. I thought 'Can it be'?

    It be.

    I don't have a macro lens, and my SLR is consumer-grade, so this is a tight crop and not super-sharp, but here's my 345.0808 in a 2-second exposure.
