I have long wanted a Mitsukoshi panda Speedy but their rarity and price was a major barrier for me. However I was finally in the position to have a dial swap done on my 3570.50. Now I have a perfect set of modern Speedies. A nice tritium dial 3590.50 and a Mitsukoshi conversion. The icing on the cake was the fact that the panda arrived on Speedy Tuesday! This will be the last acquisition for a while. At least until I can decide what I would like next. But it's a nice place to take a rest.
It's hard to tell from the pic but, I love the silver hands with silver subdial hands...Beautiful watch!
Thanks! Yes, I actually love the silver handset. In reality I don't find it hard to read, but in photos the silver subdial hands seem to disappear.
I saw a post on reddit of someone who had this done and was going to post about it here. what made it difficult to get this done? are the mitsukoshi dials in short supply from suppliers like Ofrei?
Omega is restricting access to parts so the usual places (Otto Frei, Watchco, Cousins, etc) no longer are able to sell the parts separately to customers. Parts like the Mitsukoshi dials are no longer in stock at these places, so the only place to get one is through an Omega certified watchmaker with a parts account.
that really sucks. I was considering doing this the panda dial looks so nice. any way to find such watch makers?
My 3572.50 conversion says hi! I opted for a darker handset to increase legibility. Congratulations. Wear it in good health.
I just acquired a mitsukoshi dial having never seen one in person. Mine seems to appear a bit more silver in person than the purer white I was expecting. Do you all with the dials see the same thing? Or is something potentially fishy going on with the dial I got? It's hard to convey in photos, but I will try later.
Photos attached. The watch maker who did the conversion left a little fiber behind, so that will have to get cleaned up (I'm annoyed).
