Yes it works. I don't have any crystal specific polish laying around, and had some left over Turtle wax stuff so I figured what the hell. If worse came to worse I had a new crystal anyways. Only took about 15 minutes including removing/installing the crystal. Before After Perfect? no. Decent? I think so.
Novus plastic polish is definitely the way to go for these. Only takes a little, and you don't have to remove the crystal. There are multiple grades, I use the deep scratch first, then the fine scratch. Tom
I tried to like Novus (deep, then fine), since it's so much cheaper than Polywatch, but on Hesalite at least I still much prefer Polywatch.
Since I don't have much luck taping off the beze,l and the crystals on most of my old PW's pop in and out relatively easily. I just figured pop it out and and not risk scratching up the bezel any more than it is already.
That's a valid procedure. My experience using these products on my Speedmaster and Seamaster 300 imply that just slopping over a bit won't hurt them. But whatever you need to do to be comfortable is fine. Heck, I used to polish crystals using a power buffer in a machine shop! (The guy running the shop was, among other things, a watchmaker.) Tom
I use some generic lens polishing liquid/graze all the time ... polishing a piece of plexiglass is not exactly rocket-surgery ...
