Tudor Submariner

Back in November I bought a Tudor sub, an ebay purchase and for a reasonable price. I thought it probably needed a service so I sent it off to my mate @JimInOz He took up the challenge despite some misgivings and with a couple of hints from @Archer we reached a very successful conclusion. It arrived here today and I waisted no time in fitting my Forstner bead bracelet. I think the results are stunning. Just for reference it's a cal 390, ref 7928 dates from 1967. The crown and crystal were replaced during service and it might be a re-finished dial.

Nice outcome! I think the dial may just be a later tritium service dial with some patina. Assuming the date is right, I think that a 1967 dial should still have the rose logo.

👍

Glad you like it mate.

Just send it somewhere else when it needs a service in a few years time.

It's been fun following Jim's service of this one. A very nice watch and good to see you're pleased to be wearing it.

Dial looks refinished to me? The fonts look too thin for me.

edit to add: maybe it’s just the picture resolution on my phone, but it just looks odd to me.

I would agree on refinished dial. It looks like a nice one overall though to wear.

I would need better photos but looks like a correct 4liner service dial. Insert is aftermarket.
