Tudor sub help.

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone could help with their thoughts on this Tudor sub?

Looks to be a 7016 with a shield dial, seller states 1968. My concern is the dial looks a bit too clean, could it be an early service dial?

Bracelet looks to be 9315, which is ok? - hard to make out numbers from the photos. *edit: looks like it could be a 7836*

Is the insert a newer replacement? Also what are your thoughts on the case condition?

I'll hopefully be able to have a look at it in person tomorrow and snap some better photos.

Thanks!
Ed

Hour hand conveniently obscuring the most important part of the dial.

Hmm, what should I be looking for around the = sign? - I've seen that there should be no spacing. Is that correct?

Yes. It's just a good part of the dial to look for alignment, spacing, etc. But I was mainly joking, I'm sure the seller didn't position the hands that way on purpose. The watch has a good feel to it. Polished once or twice, moderate stretch in bracelet. Honest wear and tear. Make sure the numbers check out. If you're worried about the dial and hands, maybe you can see how they respond to UV. People in the dedicated Rolexforums might know how to identify a service dial.

Had the watch In my hands today, some more photos, the lighting was pretty average 🙁

Under black light the lume plots didn't glow, but some specs on the hands did. Is that to be expected? **Comparing to some other similar watches, I think all the lume is gone - hence why no glow - but again happy for comment**

I still think it looks good. 👍

Do you know what era the insert would be from?

No, I'm not that dialed-in to the nuances without doing some research. But just going on general principles it looks plausibly legit to me. The pearl is really faded and the tick marks around the "10" are the same width as the "1".

Here are some links if you want to study up.

I have owned several Tudors but never really studied them. Some yrs back I sold a 76100 that I bought for $10. It came from a storage action amd cost me $10 the box contained several watches. Today those watches bring good money with prices going up and up
