I'm getting married in July and my Fiance has purchased a Black Bay Blue as a wedding day gift (I know as I picked it out!). The most annoying thing is I can't wear it until the wedding day 🙁

Waking up each morning knowing it's in the draw next to the bed is killing me but I've promised not to take it out the box or I'll be in trouble :whipped:

I'll post a picture when it's finally on my wrist!

Nice! Great fiancee you have!

How 'bout a stand in picture in the mean time?

I have a nice present for her too so I'm not letting her take all the credit!

It's boxed, wrapped in bubble wrap and sealed in a plastic courier bag. I think I'd find it impossible to hide my tracks even after years of finding and unwrapping Christmas presents undetected..

Yes - exactly! Thanks for making me look forward to it even more.

I plan to put it on the Navy NATO that it comes with as I think it looks better on that than on the bracelet.

Will look great on either. for the summer the NATO will sure make it comfortable but that is a great watch on steel. Congrats on the watch and on that other little thing..what you call it....wedding? yes, congratulations on that one too!

Thank you! Just over 6 weeks to go.. everything is set and in place except for my speech. I plan on taking a road trip in a couple of weekends time to pitch up somewhere quiet and get it finished. All good speeches have a beginning, a middle and an end - or something like that!

Excellent gift! You'll love wearing it and remembering what it represents. My wife's family gave me a speedy pro as an engagement gift. Fortunately I didn't have to wait to wear it.

Congratulations on the upcoming marriage and what a great gift! Just a few suggestions for your speech: 1. Keep it brief and sincere. 2. Humor is not mandatory unless you are considered the funniest guy in you circle of friends and family. 3. You will make a great impression if you keep it classy. My suggestions are worth less than 2 cents btw! Best wishes! 😉

That's the plan. As much as I'd love to buy watches as and when I feel like it, it's nice for them to have a purpose. When I have my first child I'd like to buy my birth year submariner to pass down at a later point, then my son would have a watch as old as me! I think that would be cool.

Thanks for the advice 😉 That's the route I'm going down. Never again will all my family and closest friends be in the same place so it's a good opportunity to say some nice words. My own parents divorced about 10 years ago and haven't been on best terms since so it should be a good day to get everyone together again.

My own parents divorced about 10 years ago and haven't been on best terms since so it should be a good day to get everyone together again.

The divorced parents on bad terms is not easy. My mother started acting up at the rehearsal dinner. I had to pull her aside and tell her not to screw up my day and if she couldn't respect that, not to show up at the wedding. She cried that night, but after complaining to my brother he stood up for me and set her straight. The next day without telling me my sister in law told my parents we requested they sit together in the front row and I about fell down in shock when I was walking down the aisle and saw that. And on the other side, my wife's divorced parents sitting together too. It was a great day!

Congrats on the impending nuptials and you've got a keeper if she's already supporting the watch habit. Mine gave me a manly SS 5 burner grill. For the 10th anniversary, I'm getting a ceramic smoker. Aren't these the man equivalent of a vacuum cleaner and blender? 😵‍💫

That would be not just cool, these are the things family tradition and history is made from. And when your son will pass this "family watch" to the next generation it will grow to a cherished item that has outgrown the watch and encompass warm memories. Great idea!
