I must admit, I do really like the 58 and think it is a stunning watch but personally I would be trying to get the BBBB Black Bay Bronze Blue special edition from Bucherer. I believe it was the same price initially as the normal Heritage but a limited edition. Not sure if you can still get one.

Something to consider

there are a lot of these on chrono 24. they are more than a normal BB. i am not really a gold or bronze watch guy but if you like bronze i agree that is a stunner

there's actually a red bezel black bay and a bronze black bay that just landed at european watch co. . i'm sure they could be had for a nice discount to retail

love the 58. a winner over the BB for me. I had the BB and let it go because the thickness distracted me, instead I got the blue heritage chrono which is also thick but at least is very different from my other diving watches

Felt the exact same way. Had to let the 79220N BBB go as it was a tad too thick. I'm really looking forward to having the BB58 on the wrist. From the looks of it, a winner.

I’ve been wearing the 79220N on and off for a few year as a modern watch for the beach and wet weather. It definitely sits a bit too high and just feels as thick as a brick on the wrist. I tried on the BB58 mock-up recently and reserved one immediately. It’s night and day. I’d love to see a toned down bezel insert as well ... but I’m sure those will make an appearance at some point... maybe on an updated model next year?

You guys have made things difficult for me. In my recent watch buying frenzy, after picking up a new polar explorer 2, I decided to check out the tudor black bay line this past weekend.

My local AD had the BB black and bronze in stock. Bronze felt way to chunky, but liked the black on the wrist.

Then noticed a well priced, pre owned, bin option black bay black (newer in house movement) on ebay last night. A few messages back and forth with the seller, I pulled the trigger, and it's arriving tomorrow!!

However, now I'm starting to think a 58 may be the way to go for all the reasons discussed above.

I don't currently own any dive/sub watches so don't have any reference point to refer to with regards thickness/size etc.

From my brief try on at the AD, especially next to the bigger bronze variant (and my explorer 2 which I was proudly showing off!!) , it seemed a bit small if anything.

Suppose I'll wear it for a bit and if I find it's to bulky, then could look at trading up to the 58.

I do wear suits everyday so bit worried about the black bay black fitting comfortably under my shirt cuff!!

Well my black bay black came today and I love it! I'm quite happy with the proportions, size and heft and it appears to fit comfortably under my shirt cuff, so I'm happy.

To me it feels well sized as my other main watch reference points are a rolex explorer 216570 and speedmaster 3594.

Going to cancel my 58 order and consider the GMT offering instead!!

i hope they really fix that black bit soon. it makes the watch look cheap. i know its anodized and its screw down, but Rolex knows how to do screwdown crowns...

Completely agree. The BB58 almost has everything right. It reduces the diameter and the thickness as well as getting rid of the daft anodised ring on the crown.

The only issue is the 'gilt' bezel. It should remain white.

In fact, while we're at it, I'd take the candlestick hands from the Black Bay One as well. Now we're talking.

Black Bay 58 is perfect not only because of 2mm diameter difference with the ordinary 41mm versions,
but all dimensions are also perfect: lug to lug, thickness, lug width

FYI

Tudor Black Bay Dimensions:

Tudor BB 58
Diameter: 39 mm
Lug to Lug: 47 mm
Thickness: 11.9 mm
Lug Width: 20 mm

Tudor BB ETA
Diameter: 41 mm
Lug to Lug: 50 mm
Thickness: 12.8 mm
Lug Width: 22 mm

Tudor BB In House
Diameter: 41 mm
Lug to Lug: 50 mm
Thickness: 14.8 mm
Lug Width: 22 mm

Tudor BB GMT Pepsi
Diameter: 41 mm
Lug to Lug: 50 mm
Thickness: 14.6 mm
Lug Width: 22 mm

Some Comparison with Rolex Family:

ROLEX SUBMARINER 14060
Diameter: 39.5 mm
Lug to Lug: 47.5 mm
Thickness: 12.5 mm
Lug Width: 20 mm

ROLEX SEA-DWELLER 16600
Diameter: 40 mm
Lug to Lug: 48 mm
Thickness: 14.78 mm
Lug Width: 20 mm

ROLEX EXPLORER 14270
Diameter: 36 mm
Lug to Lug: 44 mm
Thickness: 11.5 mm
Lug Width: 20 mm

You're welcome 😎

Going to try on a bb58 on Friday. They don't have any of the bracelet version in stock, just the strap one. Watch this space ...

Spoke to the shop I got my GMT from (Frazer Heart in Edinburgh) they have had stock coming in over the last few days of 58s. All been pre-ordered and picked up by customers so far, so nothing going out onto the floor.

If you want one, they are asking for refundable deposit for first refusal. Currently their list is not too long, so seems to be a good option for anyone looking for a 58 in the Edinburgh area 😀

I’ve been eyeing 58 for a while. The design is close to the classic Sean Connery sub 6538.
