Has anyone been to an AD in NYC recently to check for wait times for the BB58? I work somewhat far from any AD so any help here would be appreciated!

just checked two weeks ago when i went to Tourneau to pay for my rip of gouge price link screws and clasp spring bar, and this was Bryant park. Nope 58 and no gmt, hasnt been when I asked last november, this april and then august.

I own a bb58 with steel and nato.

It’s a great watch and one of those versatile watches that you can wear with pretty much everything.

Anyone who has a BB58 or even the black bay, is the gilt really noticeable/does it shine at all?

It doesn’t shine at all it’s matte

But it blends nicer than the bigger BB

Prefer the 58 over the larger BB variant, but eventually sold my 58. Loved the size and fit but had problems with two in a row (resolved but took months in each case) and ultimately found it a bit uninvolving as a design, and went for another Tudor.

They are still backordered for months at my AD, so clearly retaining their popularity.

I’d like to bump this thread back up - are people still enjoying the 58? I still find it an attractive watch. Curios you’re hear if any problems have cropped up etc?

is there still a waiting list for these new?

Still a waiting list - no problems with mine. I love it and it’s a terrific watch for the money. Even enjoy wearing with straps and NATO’s which I didn’t with the standard black bay as the case was too visible.

It’s one of those watches where I can’t stop looking at, although 100% knowing I don’t need one - I just think the design is pretty perfect..

Enjoy mine plenty—good size, very comfortable, ample power reserve. Very happy with the purchase; had mine since the beginning so not sure about current availability.
Mainly going watchless or SS sports in the hospital these days so it’s either the ‘58, the sea dweller or the seamaster...’58 is just best size, weight and dimensions to fit comfortably under nitrile gloves and PPE.

I honestly don’t get the whole ‘if only the bezel text was white’ thing...that just looks wrong to me...but maybe I am biased. A truly perfect watch ...

I've been loving mine, perfect size, looks great, very practical compared to all my vintage stuff.

having finally got to try it on during a recent collectors dinner, slowly tipping the scales towards yes. Was curious to see if basel 2020 wouldve had a bb58 released with white text and a more adjusted hour hand but that may be moot.

I love the fact it’s managed to please so many other enthusiasts - considering what the prices are of a vintage Sub now...this is a perfect daily option.

maybe if a new 58 came out it would have the original ‘before being officially labelled a Sub’ 3,6,9 numerals and a plain patina dial.

Also, I love they’ve even done a meters first on the 58.

I can still see this being a price riser in the future. As the subs climb, this will follow - albeit in a slower scale, but up and up regardless. To be able to wear a vintage/iconic style as a daily is something to be obsessed about...hence my interests in this watch, even though I already had a 2254 as a ‘diver’

What were the problems that you experienced?

Crown stem, bezel alignment and a stuttering/stopped movement (2 different watches). Tudor and the AD were helpful and accommodating, no issues at all, but waiting weeks and then months for a fix and then a replacement rather dulled my enthusiasm, as did the gilt dial and proportions of the hands compared to the 41mm BB and Pelages.

Would have no hesitation picking up a new one in a different colourway. It's a terrific size and weight for an everyday wearer. Very comfortable.

The only thing I dislike about the Tudor design is the hour hand... I’d be tempted to change it out - but the issue is matching the faux colour up to some other hands.

I've had my BB58 since July 2018.

On the bracelet-- it's 100% at home and the gold bezel tones provide a really nice warmth without going in to pseudo vintage territory.
Off the bracelet-- It can feel a bit like a two-tone watch missing it's gold bracelet. I've struggled with the versatility of the piece since some folks really balk at the whole leather strap + diver thing. And sometimes brighter nato colors clash with the warm tones on the 58.
