I can't believe this thread has gone this long without the obvious answer. Get both!!
If that's not an option, I prefer the black bezel.

Go with the non-AC; IMHO it's better looking and way harder to come by compared to a 2254.

Here's some incentive:

These have me sold, lol

I like the one on the right black bezel. But this is coming from someone who swore the PO was the only and I prefer the re-issue 300 much more.

can't do the silver bezel, already had to deal with my electric blue and polished bezel SMP300, sold that one pretty quick but the one I regret letting go is the 2254.50. if you can get the applied logo with the 2254.50 that is my favorite but that is a huge hassle, just get the sexy 2254!!!! TBH the non applied marker looks great on it.

Good eye
Surprisingly nicely and originally kept, far too many of those have been chromed out, pimped out, clear cornered out, and then flogged out but that one looks like it hasn't been in the rain without fresh wax in 18 years. I've got same ZHP knob (and ZF320 5sp box) on my 330ci so it sticks out (when E36 M3 production ended in 2000, many of the parts including brakes, S50B32 forged crank, gearbox, clutch, and various others were re-used to create the 330ci). Hopefully yours doesn't have the crummy dual mass flywheel and sticky fifth gear shift pin its E46 cousin has.

Is that the recent 1969 reissue or the regular 36000 Zenith?
