Anyone dare try this with a vintage Speedmaster dial?
Anyone?

I don't mind chipping in for the can of Coke if that helps? 😁

The Tropical Watch 2998 has just been reduced in price.

He does that - one of the reasons I like them, quick to acknowledge errors in pricing.

This is eBay's sh*t I think - serious visibility issues, if you list on UK/DE/FR/CA/... etc. - your listing is not always visible to everyone ... - even if you regularly list, sometimes your listing isn't visible, a messed up system, maybe there's a global way of looking at all listings but I didn't figure it out yet

Even when I switch on my VPN, I get a different look at listings, it's bizarre

I can assure you the one on the left has not been baked…

The one on the right was definitely baked for too long though. The dial has gone all black. 🙁

I waste so much of my time browsing eBay just to miss this in the end in my own city!
I’m so pissed right now 🤬

but probably not as much as the seller who must be realizing he made a very bad move! 😁

If that seller is legit and the watch delivered to a new owner at only 507,00 euro, this will go down as the bargain of the year, errr... century. My goodness. 🤦

Not fake, just from 2008

Back then, the museum was a little more flexible with what they wrote on the document.

I pay no attention to an extract pre 2012 unless backed up by a recent re certification.

I also contacted the seller and had a discussion last week. I feel pretty sad for them - they had no idea of the value and were talked into selling it locally for that amount. Predatory is what comes to mind, rather than bargain hunting. In my mind, if the seller had placed a BIN at 507 and it sold, I'd have no issues. It's the buyer talking them into ending the auction for that sum that gets me. Bad watch karma...

Agreed it is bad karma, but the seller should have also done some homework and the seller wasn’t forced to sell it at that price…..the seller was persuaded, the seller could have let the auction run its full course, both parties to blame but mainly the buyer as they knew what they were doing.

I felt that way and almost had the urge to rub it in the seller’s nose for not doing the most basic research…But then I realized the seller might be some elderly who had no clue of what to look for and probably knows now he made a huge mistake!
I’d like to know though if the buyer was a collector or a dealer, I would certainly like to avoid having to deal with such an individual!

Yes the buyer was not very honourable and knew what they were doing.

But the seller knew it was a ‘moonwatch’ as the title was
Watch omega speedmaster moonwatch
also the translated description was
Omega speedmaster moonwatch. Without glass bracelet to change, in working order
Housing width 42 mm
Other information on request

So the seller had some idea of what it was.
if you know nothing about watches and someone offers you €500 for something that looks knackered to the untrained eye, they were probably over the moon (excuse the pun) with the buyers offer and thought they were pulling a fast one on the buyer and accepted the offer early before the buyer had chance to change his/her mind.

The seller has also sold over 80 items previously so they know how to use a computer etc.

like I said a bit more research should have been done by the seller.

Is it really cooked? I would not say that… There were another one which really looked at least suspicous (pic below) but this one looks quite amazing for me.

The blobs on and around the Lume markers are not, as these Lume plots age....
