    Hello OF,

I have been offered the following Omega Triple Date Moon Phase. I am no expert on this style of watch and am curious what the experts think. There is no Moonphase 101 site.

I was not able to get a picture of the movement today but was able to grab the following shots. Please let me know if this dial/hands/etc looks correct.

Please note the original boxes and cloth that the owner tells me are original. The Omega strap is apparently original too.

The ask on the watch is $4500. Is this a fair price for the watch and boxes.

    Thank you for any advice.

    Steve

There should be an applied Omega symbol above the poorly printed OMEGA, the box is from a much later (1960s) watch and I highly doubt the strap is original, more likely about the same vintage as the not original box.

    Price is silly.

Funny, you can even see the mounting holes for the previously installed applied Omega symbol.

As @X350 XJR noted, the dial has been refinished rather crudely. Unfortunately, if you look at 10 of these on Google Images, 9 of them will be re-dials, so it's not easy to educate yourself, but absolutely necessary since good examples are hard to find. Basically, if you see one with a clean dial, your immediate response should be skepticism, followed by a very close look. In this case, the signs are obvious. In addition to the things mentioned above, the edge of the sub-dial has lost its sharpness due to a thick coat of paint that was applied during refinishing.
