Can anybody tell me what these three extended strokes at 3, 6 and 9 on the minute-stoppwatch-dial means or are good for?

It was to keep track of how much time you had when you used a payphone :)

They are the price, in thousands, for a low, medium, and high end Tri Compax from the 40s

So in other words, UG are fortune tellers and those lines are representative of their crystal ball ;)

cool, it looks great. I'm a bit fuzzy on the switch over from moonface to no face discs, which is why I was wondering on the serial/date

As we know, the original moon faces did not hold up well. Whats odd here is that we have an original dial (nice) with what appears to be a service moon disc. Far as I know, the transition to faceless moon was a 50’s thing. For this reference, I’d expect to see a service moon and the service dial. there was a hands relume at some point. Perhaps the moon disc was swapped out.

My Tri is an heirloom from my father and he always sent it directly to Universal Geneve for service. I even have a second dial (exactly the same, but lume is worn out). I think Universal Geneve changed moon disc once, and in this way it is also quasi "original". At least for me

I love your watch. It’s even more special since it was your dad’s.

True, and not for sale regardless of the price
