About to go on a nice trip to Europe and was at the bank going through my watches in the deposit box contemplating what to wear. Always try to be somewhat low key when on vacation so rejected a few, and decided on this one, which I haven't worn in a few years. Hopefully it will run well. It is a nice piece, totally under the radar. What are you guys wearing for travel?
When I'm away I want something vintage, but accurate. Also, it has to be a watch that wouldn't bother me if it was lost or damaged in transit. This one fits on all accounts: 1970 Bulova Accutron. This is a really lousy photo but it really looks a lot better than this. gatorcpa
I follow my father's advice - don't go where there's trouble, as you will most likely find rouble - so I'm not too overly concerned about which watch to wear or take with me when vacationing regardless the location. Now, if a harsh enviroment is my concern, then my old Seiko will find its way to my wrist.
Greetings from Changi airport. I spend too much time in the tropics and don't trust the seals on any of my vintage watches, so I use a Rolex GMT for the safer cities -- which has the added advantage that I'm less likely to screw up the time cross and try to call my wife at 4am -- and a reliable TimeZone beater for the dodgier.
I don't travel much. When I went to Italy last year, I wore my Speedmaster pre-moon 105.012-66 CB. It was actually the first time I wore a relatively valuable watch on my travels. Venice with the Speedy Now for the trips to Disneyland and elsewhere, it's the Patek Nautilus chrono. Arizona Baseball Spring Training in a Camaro Convertible
You mentioned you hadn't worn it in many years and if its in need of a service it might not be the best travel watch. Just my 2 cents.
Either a seiko pilot chrono or my 1990 tag F1. Both are comfortable for everyday wear and neither valuable enough to worry about loosing or being stolen. My wife and I are going on holiday for two months this weekend so I am still deciding which one to take with me.
Modern Speedmaster IWC for dress and Seiko diver ( dubbed the rat Seiko after a @JimInOz service) And as @alam s father says keep away from trouble
I wore a cheapy diver to thailand in January then had a work trip to germany/france/italy amd took another couple of vintage pieces
Since then Ive added a few cheapy vintage pieces so I can mix it up ... nothing more boring than wearing the same one or 2 pieces for a couple of weeks
Unfortunately I can't travel much. Regards @Time Exposure. If being abroad I choose my SM PO GMT Good Planet
When in Europe, North America and Australia - any one of these: https://www.flickr.com/photos/45306161@N03/sets/72157622817879727 When in Asia: Steel Rolex. When in some of the countries of South America. None Never been to Africa so I have not thought about it Of course there are variations of risk on any continent. There are places here in Sweden I would not wear a watch also.
