Early September our local Heritage Park holds its annual Railway Days event. Two days of overdosing on things railway. Several of us will participate with an exhibit of 100 plus railroad standard pocket and wrist watches, and railroad standard station wall clocks. Today was the day to drag out my railroad wrist watches (all battery operated), and to replace dead cells. In the picture are 8 wrist watches as follows.

-One Hamilton 505 railroader (not running).
-One Rodania quartz railroader.
-One Bulova quartz day/date railroader.
-Two Bulova Accutron model 214 railroaders.
-Three Bulova Accutron model 218 railroaders.

Our exhibit will comprise watches and clocks from three collectors. What you see her is about 1/3 of the railroad wrist watches that will be displayed. There will be three Seth Thomas World octagon drop wall clocks. And approximately 60 railroad standard and miscellaneous pocket watches. This year we will also exhibit two marine chronometers. More pictures to come as we get closer to the day.

Good on you! Hook the next generation. Much easier to store than a train.

This park has several kms of rail and two steam locomotives will be operating. There are many out door activities (speeder rides, spike driving, operating turntables, outdoor garden railway layouts, etc. etc.). In the round house and the car shop will be numerous exhibitors (like us, with nothing to sell), and many commercial exhibitors. A lot of these would be hobby shops, etc. As to vintage Lionel? That I can鈥檛 say.

The train show is still 11 days away, but there is a lot of preparation necessary. Today, I sorted 89 watches and matched them to their laminated descriptive labels. Brands included are Brandt (Omega), Ball, Elgin, E Howard, Howard Watch Co., Hamilton, Illinois, Waltham, a few private labels, all shown in the attached picture. Railroad standard wrist watches (20 of them) include Elgin B. W. Raymond, Ball Trainmaster, Bulova Accutron, Hamilton 505, Bulova quartz, and Rodania. Wrist watches are all ready, new batteries, etc., but not shown here.

The train show! Our exhibit comprising 90 pocket watches, 20 wrist watches, and three Seth Thomas World railroad standard clocks. All but about 5 of the pocket watches running and on time.
