The Monte Carlo to retro...will go in and out of style....
Straight lug speedy always classy

I think long term the Ed White has more room. Tudor to me feels very "flavor of the month" for the last few years, since the release of the heritage chrono (inspired by the Monte Carlo) - but I would guess that the Tudor may be more rare. I just don't know if it has the same long term staying power. But that may not be what you are interested it - you buy and sell far more watches than I ever will, so the chances of picking up a better Ed White in the future may be possible.

I wouldn't necessarily say that Tudor is "flavor of the month" just based on the re-introduction of the modern lines in the US. Their vintage stuff is damn cool just about any way you slice it - be it the early Monte Carlos (before the automatic versions turned the case size into Godzilla-like height), obviously the Subs, proper Rangers (one of the most faked watches ever, btw), or even the less-heralded Advisor. All of them had great design and utility, with the build quality that you expect from Rolex. The late 80's / 90's stuff was terrible, no way around that, but on the whole I'd say it's not a brand to be looked down upon.

Oh I definitely don't look down upon Tudor - I think their stuff is great. I'm just not sure that a somewhat funky '70s chrono has the staying power of an Ed White Speedmaster long term. I could be totally wrong.

That's a tough call. For me, it all depends on what I have in my collection. Both are very nice examples, go for the one that sings to you. For me, since I have had my fair share of Speedmasters, I'd be inclined to pull the trigger for something different.

Well, to scratch the itch I got myself a THC Blue. It wears a lot like my Big Block!
