Respectable Members I realize the top prices achieved by Vintage Omega come in precious metals, like platinum, white and yellow gold while, the top prices achieved by Vintage Rolex come in stainless-steel, at auctions conducted by Antiquorum, Christie's and Sotheby's, etc, generally. I stand to be corrected, though. For instance, this one: Rolex Vintage Single Red Sea-Dweller Sold for Half Million Dollars A Rolex Sea-Dweller has just sold at Antiquorum auction for more than half a million dollars. World record price for a Rolex Submariner http://catalog.antiquorum.com/catalo...&auctionid=267 (Credit: Rolexforums.com) Why is this so? Thank-you.
If a person wants it that badly they will pay for it. That is a rare one, and the bracelet on that one is very uncommon as well. There was one gilt GMT that went for $40k+...that was definitely very high.
Are you sure that isn't a typo? If somebody paid $490.900 for a stainless steel Sub they've lost all their marbles as well as a ton of money.
Someone paid $280,000 for the cloisonnie dial Seamaster at Christies on the 13th, and it was a more common watch than this.
Not a typo... Years back there was a tropical one that was estimated at 90k-120k Euros...I can't remember which year the auction was though.
A red dial paul newman sold for about 500k from memory in the last couple of years, and it was one of those questionable dials...
Respectable Member ulackfocus The same opinion is expressed by some 'better-halves', when they discover we pay 'so much money' for a piece of 'junk', when the price of a new one is very much cheaper and it comes with a 1, 2 or 3 year-warranty. Thank-you.
