So I bought my first Omega off eBay, how'd I do? I believe the dial is original but maybe cleaned. Its a 2849 case that is gold capped (seller listed as gold plated). I havent had the opportunity to have it opened, but it should be a 503 movement inside. There is no lume but it seems this may be the way it left the factory based on similar models I've come across online. The strap is also a replacement and I believe a fake, but it's too long anyways. I got it for under 400 USD. How bad did I do?
Had to take a look to see if it actually said Calencar lol, it is very clear that it says Calendar in person, must be a scratch in the crystal, what are the other issues?
This is how the letters should look like - this one is the more uncommon black dial version but I think you'll be able to notice a huge discrepancy in the print quality:
Cool, thanks for the help. The pictures I've posted honestly make it look way worse, must be something about the metallic dial and lighting, which is also why the "D" in calendar exists in pictures 1 and 2 but turns into a "C" in picture 5. I do agree the font is slightly different, the thickness of "OMEGA" and the "S" in Seamaster in particular, but at least it does look crisp in person. The pictures almost make it look hand written, but it definitely isn't. I have no issues with it being a redial as I intend to wear it and keep it for years to come, but I'd argue against it being a poorly done redial.
Something to consider: If you are unhappy with the watch, you can always check the return policy of your seller. Furthermore, if he did not state that the dial was redone, you can try to make a case if he doesn't accept refunds. This is, of course, unless you really do enjoy it enough to keep it. ,David
One tip for the future, when taking photographs for inquiries, arrange the hands so as to not obscure any of the script lettering
Well thanks for the input everyone, fortunately I'm still very happy with it haha. It seems to be running like a charm too so its got that going for it.
