I recently purchased a Seamaster Aqua Terra (the 8500 movement), and thought it was pretty cool that the Omega logo on the crown lined up perfectly with the watch when it was fully screwed in. Unfortunately I spotted a scratch on the underside of the glass, it was almost unnoticable, and got a replacement watch. The Omega logo on the replacement doesn't line up with the watch when fully screwed in, it's almost upside down! Is this normal? Pic attached...
Yes , the position can be variable. Variation in the stem or crown and the placement of the crown on the stem will cause this and it is to be expected.
I find if a little annoying being slightly OCD though do understand the reason behind it not always lining up... That said my PO got a little condensation inside did to the HE valve unscrewing and letting it in subsequently omega repaired it under warranty and replaced both HE and Crown aligning both up nicely!
