To wear ... or not to wear

I'd wear it, but carefully, like not if I was chopping wood or painting, etc.

Stick it on a shelf and don't wear it. Some watches deserve to be unworn

Boo! Imagine how sad the watch will feel sitting there’re alone, seeing all the other watches being worn.

If this watch were a 1680 in the same condition, the majority would probably say it needed to be preserved and locked away in a safe. That would be an example of assigning “value” to the watch based on the speculation of “investment”. This watch is no different than a NOS 1680 in terms of an object in it’s original factory state- the difference is the perceived finical value over intrinsic value.

To me, this piece is far more “valuable” in its state of original preservation than a lightly worn 1680 with box & papers- you can’t unwear a watch.

Realistically I simply wouldn’t buy such a watch. I’m a wearer rather than a collector and know I couldn’t just look at it.
Even if I tried to be good, I’d convince myself it’s ok to wear it on the rug in the living room. Then generally around the house and before you know it I’m wearing it jet skiing!

I’m the same way for the most part. I have had NOS collectibles before, I have sold them all off for that reason- they belong with someone who wants to keep it pristine. I respect people who enjoy archival collections as I am in a field that deals with archives specifically. There is always a need for a reference standard- someone has to hold on to those,

I would not wear this. It hasn’t really been worn. Buy a lesser one to wear. How many of these are like this? Very few.

Wear it. You wouldn’t let a vintage car in stay the garage. A museum perhaps, but not a garage.

I intend to wear the watches that I buy. And I'm not really one to put an item up on a shelf for display. But I don't think I could bring myself to break the seal on this one. It would be a preservation item for me. With the satisfaction of knowing someone further down the line might appreciate it in a similar way.

I like the vintage style, but I don't relly like the flat link bracelett. It finds more and more on the modern watches like speedmaster as well, but I can't get really into it!
let us see some wristshots though 😉

It won't be alone at all, it will be sat next to it's other new old stock buddies looking down on all the beaters being taken out everyday to have their heads smashed into doors.

All the patina ridden third hand watches will be in awe of the princesses on the shelf.

Like this thread needs another response.... 😉
But here is mine: Why did you buy it? I assume because it was in almost unworn condition, right? Then keep it that way because thats what you valued when you bought it. If you wanted a new watch to wear you would have most likely not picked this one is my guess.
