my 1969 just lost the Lume on Chrono hand. Now I haven’t done anything to this watch in my few years ownership. So should I get it redone or leave it to show all its flaws? The bits are floating around under the glass. I assume they won’t do any damage.

Regardless of whether you re-lume the hand, you should get the bits floating about removed.

In addition to having the bits removed and whether to relume or not, I'd try to at least stabilize the lume on those hands to prevent further flaking off.

Send the watch to James Hyman in the UK. He'll make it right, quickly and for a reasonable price. Contact him at

You definitely don't want floaters under the glass for any length of time...The watch is way too valuable
