Now, the usual answer to this question is a straight no. But when you see the hour hand you start to think does that need reluming, and if I am doing the hands I can do the dial and hands to match the bezel? Especially as there are a couple of marks on the dial already, so we have three options:

    Leave as is
    Re lume hands only
    Re lume hands and dial

I'd definitely vote hands only. The dial can't be undone once it's been relumed.

I would say to buy OEM replacement hands (while you still can) and have your watchmaker preserve the originals as they are now. Let the next owner decide what to do years from now.

Such an old thread let´s see whats your opinion six years later :)

I bought a verry nice Seamaster Calendar, not polished, Omega logo on the Crystal and so on.

But the Lume on the hour hand starts to fade and partially falls off

1] Relume or not to relume thats the Question once again… !?

2] Or and thats a new question is there a method to lets say "conservate" the old lume or "fixate" it !?

Have a watch maker clear out the collected lume dust around 6 o'clock and then put it back just as it is.

Thats also a good idea :)

Hope to find a solution for my conservation idea.

This newly acquired 2576 is on its way to the watchmaker: service, correct crown and certainly re-luming of hands. I hate skeleton hands with partially remaining lume, and I am fairly certain that relumed hands will not adversely affect sales value, probably increase it, were I to sell.

FWIW, I am on the hunt for a vintage Seamaster, and disintegrating lume is in no way a turn-off. Because. Regardless of the lume's condition I will be seeking to replace with luminova. That's heresy of course, but it's my heresy. ::stirthepot::

Would you be so kind to post the result as soon as the watch comes back from Service ?

I´d like to see some Pictures of the watchmakers work :)

I found this watch picture and i must say it´s a No Go for me.

The lume should be colored near to the original colortone, but maybe just for me ;)

The bright green is awful, as is the old mouldy green on some early Seamasters.

Modern lume can be mixed to give a subtle "aged" look.

There´s an old constellation in another thread there i borrowed the picture.

This should be the "mouldy green" you mentioned i think.

Maybe worth thinking about it, thanks :)
