So sorry to hear of your loss. Reading your post literally brought me to tears. I lost my dad almost a decade ago, and we shared a love of watches. Neither he, nor I, could ever afford much more than a nice Fossil watch growing up, but we shared the joy of finding a gem and wearing it every day. I remember I had this one watch I wore frequently, is was something I picked up at Big Lots (or something similar) for a few bucks. I literally wore it out - the hands both fell right off and were floating around inside the glass. I put it in a drawer and forgot about it. Many years later, when I was visiting my dad, he pulled the thing out of the drawer and showed me how he'd kept it in hopes of having it repaired for me one day. Well, let's just say I still have that watch in my drawer - hands still floating around in there. I just can't seem to throw it out..

I hope you can find some peace in your memories. These little things we cherish are a bit silly sometimes, but they help with the healing.

Thank you all so much for the outpouring of love and hope. It warms my heart.

Here is a recent picture of my rascally little brother, and the second one is of me, taken around the same time to share our favorite hats with each other. You might see some family resemblance.

Your pics really bring life to the story - your brother has very compassionate (and rascally!) eyes.
Love the hats, too.

Terrible and hard to bear just reading it, let alone going through it. Thanks for sharing Larry, so sorry to hear of your loss.

Hi Larry, I'm so sorry for your loss. We meet a few years back at the View House and your kind generous spirit was clearly evident. I had the 3573 with the Mitsukoshi dial and I loved seeing your Snoopy in person. Hopefully, this virus wraps up soon and we can get back to some local meet ups.

I remember that was a fun meet - hope to do that again someday.

Your watch promoted me to get a 3572.50 and do the Mitsukoshi mod to it a few years back. Everyone was so friendly too - I have pics of all of our watches on the table together.

Those I brought:

Oh, wow.... so sorry to read this Larry. I am very late to the party as I also took some time off from OF, but I am really saddened to come back and see what you had to go through.
I send you my heartfelt condolences.
And here is to all of us realizing once more that it is not about the monetary value of the watch(es)... but about all the MEMORIES they carry with each ding, blemish and other scratches...

Another sentimental watch of my brother’s was the Scurfa Diver One PVD that he was wearing when he passed away.

I bought it in a “bake sale” here on Omega Forums, to raise money for an injured forum member, and I gave it to my brother for his birthday and Christmas that year (2019?).

Only 200 were ever made and he loved this watch. Although it’s a Seiko powered micro brand watch, it was running close to chronometer specs. I sent him the stock black NATO, a black and yellow striped NATO, and a yellow rubber strap.

I’ll have to recover the unique case and other straps when I go to Phoenix next month (hoping they weren’t thrown out when everything was moved into storage).
