To Custom Title... or NOT to Custom Title??

Now that our esteemed hosts have rolled out the "Ad free" mode of OF, Tier 2 supporters have been granted the option to add their own Custom Title.

I am not completely familiar on how these used to be bestowed upon a member, but I am imagining that it had to go through the Aussie Gods directly... and always with a lot of wit.

I know that this is now going into the minutia, and I also know that "we can (now) do whatever pleases us", but I was still curious as to what the general consensus from the old guard was: to custom (self) title... or NOT to custom (self) title!?! 👎

I think they should be like nicknames, one does not pick his own...😉

I’m not going to give myself a title but should a mod feel the need to give me a nickname, I’ll kindly accept 😉

Though if self-curated ones become rampant, and will be that type of party, I may have to spend an hour searching for the thread back in 2014 where Dennis threatened a specific nickname but apparently never got around to imposing...

They were primarily bestowed by the New Jersey branch of the Aussie god council...either as a permanent reminder of something exceptionally dumb or exceptionally clever you posted. I like to think mine was a result of the latter but I'm probably wrong.

There is a Joyzie branch to that crew?!? Well, that hits close to home!

Ok, I am starting to get the jist of the background behind these custom titles... so removed the self-deprecating title I had composed earlier!! 👍

There was a Jersey branch (I haven't spent enough time there to earn the right to spell it properly), but they wandered into the Pine Barrens a few years back and haven't been heard from since.

I think tag lines should be mod given- not self appointed. As said above- they seem to be earned.

I don't know...I like the fact that the title had to be bestowed upon you.
Sort of looses its originality if you just get to make up you own.
Plus I'm not creative enough. Matters not though since I only coughed up $50 this go around lol.
