To change or not to change... Speedy bezel

I got these two Speedys

The left is a 105.012 with a wrong bezel and wrong second hand.
The right one is a first owner 145.022 69 which has the bezel the other one needs 👎
So what to do switch them, so both are correct but the 145.022 is no longer original, or search
for another DON bezel?
By the way, no need to switch the hands, i got a spare one for the 105.012, also found the correct
vintage crown in my boxes 😉

I guess you have to ask the question is the DON appropriate for a 69 and if not neither watch is appropriate at the moment. If it were me I would change so that both followed accepted convention.

You can always change back😀

+1 - think the 105.012 deserves the DON for sure. If you prefer it on the 145.022 also, keep your eyes peeled and when you can get your hands on another, go for it, but IMO, the 105.012 should have it first!

I bought the 145.022 from the widow of the first owner, she said nothing was ever changed on this watch and besides that not everybody who owns a Speedy is toying around with it like we do 😗😜😉
I have heard some do just wear them to know what time it is.🤨

I couldn't do it.

Yes the '69 is the poor relation, but it looks like it's survived 45 years with very little wear and to cannibalise it for a part once it's got this far would make me think karma was going to come back and give me a shoe-ing at some point.

I'm sure it can be confirmed with 'the book' but I'm pretty sure '69's up to around 29xxxxxx had DoN bezels. If I had the provenance that you have, I'd be keeping the '69 factory original and joining the scramble for a good condition DoN.

Going on current prices, I wouldn't be surprised if this goes over $250.

How much would a mint one fetch now in an open auction?!

I would keep as is and wait to get a correct DO90 for your 105.012. Your 145.022 is all original, as far as you know. Why mess with it, regardless of relative $ values.

It kills me to see a mid-60's Speedy without a DON bezel; for me, it just sinks the whole thing. But, I wouldn't swap in this case, I'd search far and wide for a DON bezel to grace your 105.012. That ebay bezel is there for the asking, I'd go in there for battle, I'd say $275 will get it. Later, if you can find a better example, you can trade up.

This one will fetch a lot more as its weight in Gold😀
I will find another DON ... a hidden one, happened before and can happen again.
Thanks for your input so far guys 👍
