Hello Tissot enthusiasts.

I couldn't afford an Omega 2039, so I bought a 44mm Tissot with an Omega 2039 case.
Where can I find information about jumbo Tissots from the 1930s?
I know there were two types of 44/46mm cases: one was chrome-plated, the other was steel. Mine is steel. Can you tell me anything about the year of manufacture and the caliber of the movement? And does everything look good on it?

It would be nice to see that large watch in a wrist shot.

You can apply for an extract of the archives at Tissot. Just write their support. Mine took 8months to be ready, but was worth it.

That is very cool, I didn't realise Tissot had made something that size in an original XL size case like that. That movement looks beautiful too, really elegantly finished with the brand engraved wheels.

Thank you so much @Vitezi for your great help. This watch is not 100% original. I will not be applying for an Extract; I will return the watch to the previous owner.

The size and style remind me of an IWC ref 325 Portugieser

What mind of money are these Tissot super jumbos worth currently, and are they particularly hard to come by or were they made in decent numbers?

A good few years ago I tried to buy this 43mm Tissot in a plated case in a job lot at auction, but was outbid, unfortunately. @skand, can you share what wasn't correct about the watch that prompted the return, please?

It's a bit awkward for me to describe what's wrong with this Tissot, because I wasn't the one who discovered it was a Franken. @Vitezi did a great job. The person who sold the watch was also unaware that the dial wasn't from this watch.

These 44-46mm superjumbos are uncommon but not especially rare; they pop up at auctions and at dealers from time to time. Asking prices at dealers reach the low five-figures. There's one for sale on eBay right now:

(This is just for a price reference. I have no connection to the seller.)

Over the years, OF has hosted a few Tissot superjumbos as seen here:
