I'd say - the only ones I know shoot for car magazines and fashion houses... they tend to be doing slightly more glamorous things on Tuesday nights... not that I'm jealous at all... ::facepalm1::

If anyone has suggestions...

Maybe we could arrange some sort of simple table top set-up, with a small light tent or something, which we could pop up in corner of the room?

I'll add that to the list... 馃槈

What "people" seem to want is lots of pictures of watches on tables... that relies on everyone who comes along, taking a few pictures, and sharing them in a way I can find them... about 4 people did that. 馃

The other thing to remember about pictures, is that some may bring watches that while happy to show to a small select and vetted group, they are not ready for an indiscriminate public showing of them.

You want to see super-special things?

You gotta be there.

This. And this exactly.

The whole reason I run these is to get people out from behind their keyboards, and phones, and into a room with other watch nerds, talking, socialising, sharing knowledge, having a good time.

I'm sorry that not everyone can come, but 33 people managed it on Tuesday - plus the team from an auction house, who travelled down from Birmingham to join in.

If pictures of watches are your thing, there's a fantastic WRUW thread on this very forum, and instagram is filled with millions of pictures of watches...

If you want to meet like minded people, and see cool things in the metal, sorry ladies and gents, but it's time to step out into the non digital world. 馃槜

And to the few folks, who've had a gentle jab about there not being a get together where they are, I have this to say to you:

The effort you're putting in to complaining, could be going into creating a get together where you are.

In London, we started out with 5 of us, in a pub, drinking too much and talking watches.

Thanks to the support of people that kept coming back, and some nifty marketing and PR skills (hey if I can't blow my own trumpet), things have grown to the point where they are now... this was not overnight success.

You think it sucks that there's no meet up where you live?

I agree!

What a great opportunity for you to start one! 馃榿

Couldn't agree more, Chris 馃榾 I've been in numerous car owners groups where nobody ever meets until I set up a lunchtime meet & drive or something. Then I sell the car, leave the group behind somewhat, and they stop meeting 馃檮

On the photographer/light tent front, I think it's more interesting to see pictures of people and watches, and the shots of lots of stuff on tables with drinks etc - it's a bit more authentic and will make people think "I wish I'd been there". The photos I saw from previous meets made me think of the drinking scene in Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels...

... but with watches instead of cards 馃榾 I've got some photographer pals who I'm sure would come along and just snap and chat.

Anyway: let's see some competition, northerners, foreigners - post pictures of your watch meet and see if you can't get a more interesting mix of people & stuff than Chris has managed ...

Except at Rolex GTGs where the table full of milsubs and PNs is on IG/forums during the event.

Rolex marketing 101: if you're not shouting about how good it is all the time, people will ask questions about just how special steel is. 馃槜
