Thoughts on this watch as my first omega?

First of all: Welcome aboard 😀

Note that while people here are usually happy to discuss a piece you’re considering, it helps if you provide your own thoughts beforehand. And while there are certainly sharks around here, too, the OF classifieds are definitely a great place to start.

Just two general remarks from my side:

This one is a little harder to research than later pieces with a proper reference number, but if you check eBay for “Omega 13322” and use the search options you can limit the results to sold items. You might find similar ones to compare. Do factor in differences in condition, material etc.

Be aware of the size of the watch. While ~33mm is a completely common size for that era, it might appear small to someone who’s only accustomed to modern watches.

Happy hunting.

Thanks for the reply! Im a really big fan of the uncluttered dial and the Arabic numerals. As you mentioned, it’s harder to research because of its age. Are there any similar references you have in mind that you think might be easier to research/be comfortable pulling the trigger on?

With regards to the size, my current watch is a 35mm and it fits my wrist pretty well (see photo). Do you think 33 mm might be too small for my wrist?

What indicates to you that it might be a redial? Is there some tells I can look for when looking at watches?

It is hard to research prices on nationally cased watches because there is generally no totally equivalent Omega reference number. And I don't think that people are going to comment openly on the asking price of a watch sold by another member.

In your place, I would make a list of 10 recent sales (not asking prices ... sales) of stainless steel Omega watches from the same era with 30T2 movement in the same general range of size and condition. Make adjustments for size and condition, and then see where you land on price.

Sounds good. This is helpful. Thanks for the advice!

I think it' a nice watch but the asking price is a little higher. As other meber here said you can search on ebay for similar "sold" items to make a comparation.

Yes, I have skinny wrists and generally opt for 35mm watches, occasionally 34.5. I don’t really recommend 33mm in this day and age, they can easily look eccentric rather than stylish.

Yea, I think I agree. I think anything smaller than a 35mm might look too small on my wrist after looking at my current watch.

Something to keep in mind when comparing to your current watch is that watch is pretty much all dial which gives it a larger appearance. If you had a 35mm with a big bezel and a smaller dial it would appear much smaller in comparison. How big is your wrist? 33mm is getting pretty small for most.

You can get away with a slimmer diameter watch if you wear it under long sleeves, but I agree that otherwise it can look eccentric if shirt sleeves or T-shirts are your modus operandi.

That brings us to the next thing to be aware of comparing watch sizes online. Pretty much all phone pictures skew the image and make watches appear much larger on the wrist. I have a 32mm that wears tiny on my 7” wrist but looks about normal size in pictures.

I just measured it and my wrist is just over 7 inches
