Let’s be clear though. You are not going to be able to buy a vintage Speedmaster at a price aligned with the categories in the sp101 price chart from a dealer. As far as I understand it, those prices are generally reflective of historic private/auction sales.

Dealer prices will always be higher, often significantly so.
Duly noted.
Definitely does not meet the Very Good threshold, I'd call it Fair+/Good- and if you decide to, make an offer on that basis.

And personally, I like Fair+/Good- for a wearable watch. No need to fret about wearing a museum piece.

Here's my Fair+/Good- -66, the condition looks a lot like the watch in question.

You, Sir, have a very high standard. Your “Fair+/Good-“ watch looks “really good” to me.

A beautiful watch. Especially the hour and minute hand lume seem to sometimes age differently than the rest of the lume, so seems common, as David said.

People's grading is all over the place, but a general grade of good seems fair. But with the dial looking that nice, and the overall package, what a great watch to wear.

I personally would not buy a vintage 10k+ watch without a picture under 360nm !! -UV light.
360/365 nm is absolutely necessary. Do not buy a temu-$8 torch 😬 - I did first -> crap!

I have this one that seems to work well.

As for the watch, I'm a novice so won't give an opinion at this point, but it's very interesting to read other's views on it.

we also have a lot of redone lume on dials made with tritium (and even radium)
they all pass the UV/darklight-test - i think this generelly is importantto know

Why is 360/365nm important as it relates to lume? As opposed to 395nm UV?

I was looking at that watch as well... it is very close to the model worn by Neil Armstrong if that matters:

https://www.chronoholic.com/post/a-...dmaster-professional-105-012-65-the-moonwatch

While it's not a perfect watch, it seems correct and in fairly good condition to me... it would be very hard to find a 105.012 in better condition without a significant jump in price.. I have been trying!

Just my $0.02.
Well someone agreed with you and bought it. I will be patiently waiting for the next one, in a condition preferably at least similar to my "good+ (?)" 145.012-67 (serviced by Simon Freese a few years back) and with a price I can accept.

Beautiful -67!

Chronoholic gets some stunning Speedmasters but you will pay a pretty penny for them. Speedmaster 101 also occasionally sells some nice watches at the www.speedmastersales.com site, but again you will pay for the quality!

I have been following 105.012s for several years, not easy to find a very good condition watch at a price even remotely close to the price chart price (currently $11,500 USD head only).

This is correct.
A very rare variant of the 105.012-65, and the exact same 'spec' as Armstrong's watch.
Everything looks 100% correct and original.
What was it priced at?

I have also been eyeing 105.012-65 for a few years. I would pay 12.5K for this one assuming that all is correct - https://www.ebay.com/itm/2567510980...9nd2rHl4NSBAxf/JG0D5p1nQ==|tkp:Bk9SR4Sq-4znZg - except that's not what they are asking !

Nice watch although it looks like it may have seen a bit of a polish?
The case may have been polished but not terribly done, there is still a nice case back/"Speedmaster"/seahorse/Omega logo. For the right price I'd be all right with it.

I have posted watches on here before for sale online... and they have almost immediately sold. I swear it's not a coincidence! I was watching that -65... it languished for at least a month.. and sold within a day of posting here? I think that dealer owes the forum moderators a commission!

Same here. It's wierd. But that mysterious quirk of selling just before I noticed an ad has saved me a lot of money over the years.

And a highly knowledgeable dealer, I think.

Posting a Speedmaster, that is for sale, on a forum of Speedmaster addicts, just might result in a sale.
