Thoughts on this Record Watch

I am looking for dress watch to wear during work days, i had my eyes on Mont Blanc Heritage here http://www.montblanc.com/en-gb/coll...ontblanc-heritage-chronometrie-automatic.html

In fact this watch became my benchmark for searching alternatives, its silver has blue hand which i love and priced under £2,5k

I then started looking at Longines and I am new to this brand. So i found Record one here https://www.longines.com/watches/re...popgb5QTn928d3v6PNIywjI2Xy4o5qPhoCWoMQAvD_BwE

I really like it, love the hands in blue, 64 hours power reserve, COSC certified and based on what i seen very competitive price. Thinking maybe try to snap a good deal somewhere in London during Easter holidays.

What are your thoughts? No brainier? Please post if you got something else alternative.

Do you think with that type of watch i can try get a blue leather strap to add more blue, would it look good?

    Cheers

My wife has a contemporary manually wind Longines. They use ETA movements (Swatch Group). An advantage of Longines is the relatively low cost of service. Hers was $220 for a full service by Swatch USA. I simply mailed the watch to their service department. A local Longines authorized dealer quoted over $500!

It looks good and personally I would roll with the SS bracelet rather than a blue strap which would tend to distract from the blue highlights on the dial.

Don't want to rain on your parade but my guess that is a rendered picture (i.e. computer generated).

i can take it, sure but its not like they are misrepresenting design, i am going to view it in person, probably their regent street official branch and try 38.5 vs 40mm size

I personally don’t like that Longines record. I strongly believe that Longines as a brand and its history as well is much more than some watches that they are producing nowadays.

Each to their own. Longines are one of the better companies in terms of producing heritage pieces. If I were a modern collector, this wouldn't be a bad piece to start with.

    Pictures please!

well i tried to view it today in various jewellery places likes of Ernest Jones and what i learned this is very new model range and got various lead times for the piece to be in stores, the shortest timescales i got was 2 weeks from some and the longest June or later. I guess i will try official Longines store in Regent St as planned to see if they got display model.

Anyone got anything bad to say about these online stores?

Went to Oxford St store and they don't have this collection yet, too new, should be in stock in 2 months time.

had a look at the watch today and have to say slightly disappointed with the looks, not sure how to explain but it just looked more blunt in real life and the handles are very dark blue, i was also expecting it slightly thinner, shame as its great spec for the price

think will have to resort to Montblanc Heritage as its very nice simple and thin

What about Glashutte Original? This may be outside the price range you are looking at, though you might be able to pick up one second hand:

Well that came out a bit bigger than I thought it would. There are several variations on this watch available. https://www.glashuette-original.com/collection/senator-collection

Ok on actually going and looking at the cost of this model I'm going to guess it's way out of the ballpark of where you are looking. Sorry, carry on.

Nice watches, like how they mix different colours bit out of my £2k price range

There's a website called 'seriouswatches' that carries these in Europe.

They're under a tenth of the price of other things you're considering. So you could always just buy one to have something to wear while you make your mind up.
