Massively overpriced, those are very low demand and more often than not melted due to lack of interested buyers.

Are you only after a dress watch? '74 was a fairly crappy time for Omega with the exception of some sports models.

74 Speedys should not be too hard. What price range do you have in mind?

Thats the thing about collecting, dont buy the first one you see however tempting. Take your time and you will find what your looking for. The good places to look are small independant jewellers, Ebay, car boot sales and the sales corner of forums. Dont be afraid to put a wanted to buy on here also.
good luck with the hunt.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I am looking for a gold dress watch and it has to be 1974. I have sports watches so looking for something different. Price is not an issue, I am just after a good Omega from that year in gold.

I will keep looking and post on the wanted forum as well. If you spot anything then let me know ........

As much as this is omega forums in 1974 you may be better off looking at a Patek Calatrava rather than an omega dress watch

That's a rather different price bracket though...

This is quite true, just trying to think of a good '74 Omega dress watch and coming up a bit blank, the Louis Brandt models didn't come out until the 80s afaik

This might help. It wasn't a classic year for Omega but the Deville and Constellation lines look like your best bet.

Was the calibre 712 Ultrathin chronometer still in production in '74?

That might be a good option then, it's probably one of the best time only movements they made in that period.

OK Warren, seriously?......
How big is your vintage watch catalog library? 😲
It seems you can pull almost any catalog reference whenever somebody ask for an uncommon type or year of watch........👍

Cheers guys thanks for all the advice. I can't find what I'm looking for yet but I will keep looking.
Thanks for the catalogue as well - very interesting to see the watches on sale in 1974.

It's not that big, just limited to a few years. You may have noticed hundreds of threads where I have no relevant catalogue 😉
