    Hi all,

I've just acquired this late fifties Seamaster with a cal 285 movement. It looks all Original to my eye, but I think someone cleaned the dial of every last bit of radium. To me it doesn't distract from the beauty of the watch, but I was wondering if people come across this more often? Also, other thoughts on the watch are welcome of course!

Would need a clear dead on shot of the dial to offer comments.

Dial does look like its been cleaned, but appears otherwise to be original. The Alpha style hands would have had luminous filling as well. Probably would look a bit better if they were filled with some aged lume or black paint, a decent watchmaker should be able to do this.

Case has seen the bad side of a buffing wheel, but still a nice daily wearer.

Thank you for your thorough reply, it confirms all my assumptions. I have had my watch guy fill the hands of a watch before, so that's a very good suggestion.

Update: thanks to your suggestion I had my watch guy fill the hands. I'm really happy with the result, let me know what you think!

Thanks guys. Also treated her to a new Omega buckle for that finishing touch - although a nice vintage one would be even better.
