I would appreciate your opinions as to the aesthetics of this 145.0022.

The movement number of 4538xxxx would seem to place its production year somewhere in the mid 1980s, maybe 1984/85 - but stand to be corrected.

Personally, the "well loved" bezel and the plots don't turn me off it and perhaps they should. The aged hour plots look as though they have maybe been exposed to moisture and/or excessive oiling with oil being expressed through the centre pinion (I have heard that this can happen, but never confirmed)

Offered to me at a little over USD4k

Looks like the movement needs a good clean and service.

Looks like its been hard ridden and had a tough life

lacks definition to the lugs, and agree, maybe moisture has affected the dial plots, and bracelet looks like it may need a rebuild

i’d date this to late 83, early 84 ( based on EofA of mine below, 44.1 mln serial, produced 21st Jan 1983

notice my example has the lime green lume, but they changed the lume colour around mid 80s

Look closely... Corroded case and moisture spots on movement, worn bracelet, lack of case sharpness indicate heavy use. Unsigned crown? Lack of paint on the hand is common when the hands were not carefully handled. I would not pay too much for this one IMHO.

For mid to low $4,000's you can find a much cleaner example from the mid 80's

That's a hard pass for me, the case is over polished, dial and hands look to have a particular tint which is indicative of exposure to moisture. Lastly, the movement is also not clean at all.

Looks honest, but the condition is pretty rough. If you like it, just get the price down. It won't be easy for the owner to sell.

I was wondering about the polishing as well - thanks for supporting that view with me.

Lume went from the minty colour to more pale custard colour from about '85 on, I recall reading somewhere. Maybe a point of demarcation considering I am after my sons birth year 1985.

Here is my March of ‘85 speedy. The dial has that custard color but the hands are slightly lighter in tone and a little greener in color.

80-85 or so. Hands are trashed and good luck finding ones that will match the dial. Bezel is unattractive. Modern 1171 bracelet.
Meh.

Agree with analysis of Dan S

Offer a lower amount, $2,900 would be tops in my view.

Hands and markers are funky looking patina

I feel fortunate to have purchased this ‘91 145.0022 for the price I acquired it for.
