Hi Guys, Any thiughts on this 105.012? I am in negotiation on this one. Seller is asking in the 9k€ region. I need you specialists eye for details. Have been checking it with the Speedmaster only book and have my doubts on the dial and crown. But what do you guys think? Will post some pics.
And now for me the most difficult part. The movement. There are quite some different ones. Dustcap seems ok, back case seems ok.
It comes with some paperwork and what seems to be the correct box. I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on this one... - chrono second hand seems a bit awfully white. - does not come on a metal bracelet. Best regards
Use speedmaster101.com as a guide. Wrong bezel wrong crown. Pushers seems off too. Lume has an undesirable colour and missing on the step.
Looks like the movement belongs to a later reference perusing the serial number look up table for at 101
Guys! Already thank you for the info. Basically it seems to be a mixture of different parts from watches from different ages.... Considering the above i might just have to look out for another one. Just out of interest, having the knowledge above, what would the valube of this piece be more or less? 4-5k?
Without going into the details, this watch looks so much like an "Italian special", prepared and assembled from literally a parts bin. Avoid.
Do a search for sold/ended auctions for escape wheel bridges on Ebay every now and then..very educational. And scary..
For that price, I’d rather buy the Ed White that’s for sale for 10,500 gbp by A Collected Man https://www.acollectedman.com/products/aa-speedmaster-pre-professional-ed-white-105-003-65-steel
"The patina on the hour markers are orange tone, matching the early service-replacement hands." There it says why, even though not the way I'd expect from a honest description. But in the end for me just another dealer to avoid then..
Replacement chrono hand, service crown, service pushers and later bezel (should be a DON.) Dial has lost almost all lume, undesirable to me at least. Case has been repolished or apparently restored, which may or may not be attractive to you. Serial would indicate 1967 production, that's a matter for concern. Ask for pictures of the date printed (it'll be something like "3.67" on the page preceeding watch information page) on the watch's papers. These can vary significantly from the watch case due to the fact that watch case could be produced on a certain year (ie 1965) but the watch was sold on 1968 when the AD would pull a blank warranty from a bin and fill it out at the time of purchase. Paper years should generally be a year or later after watch year, there are exceptions of course.
