Thoughts on the Omega X2?

Just got the Omega De Ville X2 Chronograph. How are the mood on these types of omegas with a square case and a complicated chrono. Is it hate or love or are these generally not considered as viable options?

suum cuique -

IMO hard to sell, if you want to.....

I’d find the dial too busy.

I can‘t help it, but i think it‘s like this kind of shirt.
But maybe interesting for technically reasons 🤔

Interesting form factor, but good grief that dial is busy. That hour recorder is awkward too. Honestly, the dial lets it down, otherwise it could be interesting.

That’s a lot more useful than the other way round.

I find it a very confusing watch. They have taken an interesting case design from the 1950's, from ref's 3903 and 3944, which is square with those pronounced facetted and pointed lugs and 'modernised' it. To me it has completely lost the elegance of the original design due it to be XL'd out and now a chrono.

The dial is certainly unique....and I don't have clue how to read the hour counter.

Here a 3903 as reference to the 1950s styling, the 3944 being a square Cosmic Moonphase

That article is one of the main reasons I purchased the watch. 😊👍🏻
Nice, do you have any wrist shots?

That dial is giving my OCD OCD with how busy it is 🤣

Do like some of the art deco stuff and that's the beauty of the time, it was avant-garde yet restrained. Something about the balance seems off, can't put my finger on it.

Enjoy it for years to come, might look different on the wrist and look forward to some pics.

Here are some snaps from today..

Nice! They wear really well while keeping that vintage square case look

That’s one busy dial.
Honestly, looking above, the wrist shot is a lot better looking than the off-wrist shot, for some reason the busy-ness is less-obvious. I'm still not a fan (and frankly, the "X2" for a 12 oclock movement (roman 10 + arabic 2?) is a little strange), but I'm more so than I was.

The beauty of this hobby, everything is subjective and everyone has there own tastes. Unique concept and rock it because you like it.

First - congrats to the OP for avoiding the herd, rocking a radical piece, and making it look far better on-wrist than it deserves. Wear it in good health mate and enjoy.

I will never question my fellow humans' tastes, so this is just me. Cristos is right about the odd marriage of a beautiful, elegant 1950s case architecture with a potentially bold Op-Art(?) design. But it's the dial that is the real problem. I am someone who starts gibbering at the sheer irrationality and ugliness of a California dial. So when I saw Omega watches that said "X2" as a would-be edgy, looky-me way of conveying "twelve", I felt a great deal of pain. Goodness only knows why they chose to ruin an entire range of promising watches by doing that!

Here it is with a white strap. Looks more complete in my opinion.

Surprisingly, the white strap tones the dial down. Like it more now with this look than the previous brown strap.
