I'm thinking about buying the Reduced as my first Speedy. Anyone have thoughts on it? Pros, cons?

There are plenty of information here and you can read up with minimal efforts by searching.

if you don't want the full-sized case (and price) of the Speedy Moonwatch, the Reduced is a good choice, plus it's automatic...

a good friend has one and loves it... he just doesn't care for the larger Speedy case...

you can find nice examples in the $1000-$1500 range... happy hunting!

But a seller is selling at a steep 1800 thereabouts. 1000 is too unrealistic unless its beaten up. Nowadays, the price of reduced inched up to about 1600. I would rather top up a few hundreds and get a speedy pro aka the real thing.

The later 3539.50.00 Speedmaster is the one to look for. Cleaner dial, sapphire crystal and much improved bracelet.

This latter model is less available but a good upgrade with sub dial display the same as speedy pro. I would look out for this reduced too!

I personally owned a 3510.50, not a big fan....bracelet and watch in general felt a bit flimsy/cheap to me. I opted later for the full size 3750.50 which never disappoints.

Sure the quality is more inferior and my hairy wrist may get pricked by the gaps between the links. But i accept it as part and parcel of the ownership of a speedy reduced.

I owned a 3510.50 for about a year. They're great except the movement uses the DD piggyback chrono module which can be pricey to service. More so than the other 39mm Speedmaster Dates which have different dials. That'd be the only drawback to the reduced. The later one, the 3750.50 is much improved across the board.

I'd recommend the 3510.50 and I actually prefer it to the moon because it wears more comfortably for me

Nice little watches. You can usually get them comparatively cheaply on eBay. The only thing I don't like about them is the band, which feels very cheap and flimsy.

Hmm, I beg to differ as I think the bracelet is pretty fine. In fact I like the old style clasp rather than the current design. In anyway, you can dress it up by swapping for a suede leather strap and you are good to go!

The value you get with a reduced Speedy is unsurpassable. In comparison to the Speedy Pro however it's no match.
If you end up going with the reduced... most likely time on this forum will lead you to the 3570.50 or other variation of the 42mm. A wise man once told me, "If you're going to do it... do it right". To each is own and this is just my .02.

Picked up a speedy reduced a few months ago and absolutely love it.

For the smaller wristed (6.75 inches here) it's an easy fit and very comfortable.

Here's mine (the second gen version) on a custom leather NATO...

If it speaks to you, buy it. They are nice watches.
