Thoughts on humidity control?

As I go through my tool chest and put in new silica desiccants to keep the saws and blades from rusting, I find myself wondering: also a good idea for watch boxes?

I can only imagine that the reason I haven't heard about this is that it's a bad idea; I wondered if perhaps they could dry out lubricants as well. I wondered if anyone had any experience or thoughts.

I would think that as long as the lubricants aren't water-based (I'm not sure whether or not watch movement lubricants are or are not) you'd probably be OK - even then though I think it wouldn't be an issue as long as the silica packets weren't placed directly against the watch's caseback or crown.

I keep dessicant packs in my watch storage boxes. 馃憤

None that I am aware of are water based...silica packs are fine for watch storage.
