    I've stumbled upon this Seamaster Automatic and need some expertise on evaluating the overall condition of this model. I own a 1954 Seamaster in poor condition and wish to get another similar to this model. Taking my lack of knowledge about the 50's Seamaster models into consideration, I hope you will guide me a bit regarding this watch. I personally do not mind the patina, but I'm interested in the watch being as intact and original as possible.

    The dealership seems trustworthy and the photographs are quite good, but the lack of details catches my eye;
    Noted as a Omega Seamaster Automatic ref. 2576 - 1950s, and goes for 800 euros - approximately 988 USD. It comes with service papers.

    Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

    Pass, the case has been quite heavily polished.

    For that kind of money it should be MINT and unpolished. Pass

    Ridiculous price. Looking at the text I even think it's a redial...

    Edit: although text is a bit thick maybe it's ok. Was comparing the text with mine. Still a high price though...

    That's a very nice example. Is it only the logos that makes you think it might be a redial?

    Yep. But I think it's ok. Maybe it's the light. Also omega used different fonts. The text itself looks ok. Still think 800 is a bit high. With patience you can find a better example. I bought mine for eur 350.

    I don't like the thickness of the font in the OP watch either. I have had a couple of these and neither was that heavy. That said the rest of the dial is corroded enough to suggest it hasn't been messed with. Whatever, there are much better out there.

    I have to confess that I do not no how long the specific model ran for, but is it possible Omega switched fonts at some point, taking the corrosion you remark into consideration?
